Wilson leads 2024 Female National Chess Championship
After the early exchanges in the 2024 Barbados Female Chess championship over the last weekend, women FIDE master Hannah Wilson, the highest rated local female player has the lead with three points from her three games so far.
In her last game, Wilson defeated Leshay Springer with the white pieces to move into pole position.
In the other match Jaeda Herbert won against Laura Nicholls to move into second position with two wins from her three games so far.
Currently, women candidate master Chanon Reifer-Belle, the second ranked player in the field lies in third place with one point from her solitary game. She has two games in hand on the other players in the event and will be eagerly looking to catch up to the early leader in Wilson.
The tournament is being played as a double round robin event, where each player will play against all the others in the tournament twice, once with the black pieces and once with the white ones.
