Nominations Open for BCF Assistant Secretary Treasurer

The Barbados Chess Federation Inc. (BCF) is inviting nominations for the position of Assistant Secretary Treasureron its Executive Board.

The successful candidate will be elected at the Federation’s 2026 Annual General Meeting on Sunday, October 11, 2026, and will serve the unexpired term of their predecessor. 

About the Role

The Assistant Secretary Treasurer plays an important role in supporting the administration and financial management of the Federation.

Under the BCF General By-law, the Assistant Secretary Treasurer is responsible for:

  • Assisting the General Secretary and Treasurer in carrying out their duties;
  • Performing the duties of the General Secretary and Treasurer in their absence; and
  • Undertaking other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Executive Board.

The role therefore provides an opportunity for a committed member to contribute directly to the effective governance and continued development of chess in Barbados.

Who Can Be Nominated?

Candidates must be Ordinary Members in good standing with the Barbados Chess Federation at the time of both nomination and election.

Each candidate must be proposed and seconded by members in good financial standing who are eligible to vote.

How to Submit a Nomination

A valid nomination must include:

  • A completed Nomination Form, signed by the proposer and seconder;
  • A completed Consent Form, signed by the nominee;
  • A short biographical profile of no more than 300 words; and
  • photograph of the nominee in JPG format

Nomination Deadline

All nomination documents must be submitted to the BCF General Secretary by:

4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026
